End With Your Running
A song about catching feelings, then catching yourself.
Lyric Analysis
Theme & Narrative
With End with You Running, I tried to paint a picture of a love that hits fast and hard ("like a storm, like a spark, like a fire running"). At first, it's all about the initial surrender to the feeling, giving into the moment instead of resisting it. But ultimately, be the one that ends up leaving. I draw parallels from me leaving Ireland and my previous release, "Date With Niamh".
In the verse, it's from the perspective of someone preparing to end the relationship - two possibilities, depending on how you interpret the lyrics: 1. possibly to chase the earlier one, or; 2. the inability to handle the depth of the commitment as "I'm about leave this eve".
In short, this song is about:
-
Not being emotionally ready for love
-
Hurting someone else while carrying your own pain
-
Trying to exit gracefully, but knowing the damage is done
